Louise Nevelson (1899-1988) is one of my favorite artists. Her massive found-object sculptures have always been overwhelmingly haunting to me and seemed to be full of secrets. She tended to cover her sculptures in one color, generally black, white or gold to make each object less noticeable. Nevelson's work has been collected all over the country so chances are good that there's a
Nevelson sculpture in a museum near you right now.
Also, can we talk about the way this amazing lady dressed? Mink eyelashes, man's hat and giant fur coat. What a badass.
